From Concept to Kick-Off: How a Unique Football Card Game Came to Life

Creating a new kind of football card game, one that simulates an entire fantasy league season with realistic results, was a passion project for its inventor. Motivated by the desire to bring something different to the football game market, this inventor’s journey led to a fully manufactured product now available online and soon on shelves at Dulwich Hamlet FC.

The Spark

The idea began with a simple goal: to design a fantasy football tournament simulation card game unlike anything currently available. Wanting to capture the unpredictability and excitement of a real football season, the inventor set out to create a game that could realistically simulate match outcomes based on card play.

The Journey with Innovate

With a clear vision but a complex challenge ahead, the inventor turned to Innovate Design for support. Innovate’s team helped translate the idea into a tangible, playable format by designing each card to clearly represent goal-scoring mechanics. They also ensured the probability ratios between card types reflected realistic match outcomes, an essential aspect for gameplay credibility.

The Big Win

The biggest milestone so far? Getting the game manufactured and physically in hand. Now available online via Shopify and linked through Instagram, the game is also set to hit shelves at Dulwich Hamlet FC. It’s a tangible result of determination, thoughtful design, and collaborative effort.

What’s Next?

With the first batch of games nearly sold out, the inventor plans to reinvest and expand to more retail outlets. Discussions with football clubs are already underway, and there are plans to reattempt a trademark registration with the updated logo.
