Gigwam™: The Revolutionary Connectable Festival Tent System

The Project Overview

Gigwam™ is a pioneering connectable tepee tent system designed to transform the traditional camping experience. Unlike standard tents, the Gigwam™ system allows users to link multiple units together, creating a customizable, "community-style" living space perfect for festivals and group adventures.

The Challenge: Creating a Social Camping Community

The inspiration for Gigwam™ struck when Dustin Toland noticed that festival camping often felt isolated rather than social. He envisioned a modular camping product that could facilitate interaction and build a sense of community. To turn this creative spark into a commercial reality, he required a design partner who could handle both technical engineering and brand identity.

The Innovate Solution: From "Gigwam" Branding to 3D Visualization

Dustin collaborated with Innovate Product Design to evolve his concept into a market-ready brand. The development phase included:

  • Worldwide Patent Research: A global search was conducted to ensure the "connectable" mechanism was unique and protectable.

  • Technical Engineering: Our design team addressed complex construction challenges to ensure the tent system was durable, weather-resistant, and easy to link.

  • Brand Identity: Innovate developed the signature Gigwam™ logo, creating a distinctive brand image that resonated with the festival market.

  • High-Impact CAD Renders: We produced photorealistic visualizations and presentation boards that demonstrated user interaction and the system's modularity.

The Process: A Strategic Path to Market

Through Innovate’s structured development process, Dustin was able to:

The Results: A Dragons' Den Sensation

Since its launch, Gigwam™ has become a staple at major music festivals and camping exhibitions. The product gained national fame on the UK television show "Dragons’ Den," where Dustin received investment offers from legendary entrepreneurs Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden.

Choosing to maintain full control of his vision, Dustin turned down the investment to grow the brand independently. Following the success of Gigwam™, he is now developing the "Kidwam"—a specialized version for the children's play market.
