We are a nation of cat and dog lovers.  We love our furry little friends so much that we spend an eye watering £18,000 over their life span keeping them happy and healthy.  With such a lucrative industry, it is no surprise that a number of inventors and entrepreneurs are keen to get in on the action.  But are all of them really necessary?  No, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not great.   Here’s my pick of the best barking mad inventions.

1-Kitty Wigs

Does your kitty think she’s a glamour puss? Is your tomcat going thin on top?  Worry not, Kitty Wigs to the rescue! There appears to be no logical explanation for these, other than, why not?!

2-Bowser Beer For Dogs

They say that a dog is a man’s best friend, and what does man like doing with his best friend? Knocking back a couple of pints.  Available in Beefy Brown Ale and Cock-a-Doodle-Brew, this drink won’t get your Schnauzer sozzled but will make them feel more part of the action.

3-PetMaster PDA

Gone are days when a dog’s life consisted solely of food, sleep and play.  PDA’s specifically for your pet are now available to stay on top of all the play dates, grooming appointments and contacts.

4-Cat Scratch

If you’re fed up of your cat scratching your favorite piece of furniture or leg, it may be worth investing in the Cat Scratch turntable.  They will be entertained scratching and chasing the spinning disk, and you will be entertained watching an animal doing human things.

5-Puppy Tweets

Social networking is going to the dogs . Lack of thumbs is no longer an excuse for your dog not to be part of the twitterverse.  Thanks to PuppyTweets™ you can stay up to date with what your pet is up to while you’re out and about.  Maybe one day your pet could rival @sockington the cat with a whopping 1.3 million followers (sample tweet:  pad pad pad pad APPEAR IN DOOR linger linger DISAPPROVAL FOR NO REASON turn twitchy tail pad pad pad”
