The team at Innovate were pleased to recently receive one of the UK's first 'MakerBot Replicator 2' 3D Printers.
What is 3D Printing?
3D printing is the process of making a three-dimensional solid object of virtually any shape from a digital model. 3D printing is achieved using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes. 3D printing is considered distinct from traditional machining techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by methods such as cutting or drilling.
Why Do We Have One?
As a product design company, we also assist our clients in producing prototypes for their inventions, in many cases this can require various different parts to be produced and put together. Most people would normally have to send off to a manufacturer to have these parts made, but with the MakerBot we are able to produce these on site, reducing the time that it takes for us to effectively produce fantastic prototypes for our clients.
MakerBot's new home is at the Salisbury Studio, if you are having a meeting with us there then please do ask if you would like to take a look at this wonderful piece of kit.
