Bog-in-a-Bag: The Ultimate Portable Outdoor Seating & Toilet Solution
The Project
Bog-in-a-Bag is a versatile, lightweight stool that effortlessly converts into a portable toilet, specifically designed for camping, festivals, and outdoor adventures. Developed by entrepreneur Kate Castle, this unique dual-purpose product fills a vital gap in the outdoor utility market.
The Challenge: Solving the Outdoor Sanitation Problem
Kate Castle identified a significant lack of hygienic, truly portable sanitation solutions for the "on-the-go" market. She approached Innovate Product Design with a vision: to create a product that was as comfortable to sit on as it was practical to use in an emergency.
"I was very pleased with the final product design and the presentation boards. I requested a number of amendments and these were made quickly and efficiently." — Kate Castle
The Innovate Solution & Process
Innovate worked closely with Kate to refine the ergonomics and aesthetics of the Bog-in-a-Bag. Our team focused on:
Technical Design: Ensuring the stool was structurally sound yet lightweight for transport.

Market Readiness: Helping Kate finalize the design to a standard where she could confidently approach UK and Chinese manufacturers.
From Concept to Investment
Kate’s journey is a blueprint for product success. After developing the design with Innovate, she:
Secured Funding: Completed a rigorous budget planner to bring an investor on board.
Protected the IP: Applied for a patent and registered her design images.
Global Manufacturing: Directly managed the production process to ensure quality and cost-efficiency.
The Results
The launch of Bog-in-a-Bag was met with immediate excitement. By bridging the gap between a simple stool and a functional toilet, Kate created a brand that defines convenience for the modern camper.
"Seeing the idea come to life has been incredibly rewarding. The excitement of receiving my first sample has definitely been a highlight." — Kate Castle
